Our Story

Old Mates Landscaping and Maintenance was built on a simple idea, do the job properly, or don’t do it at all.

What started as small landscaping and maintenance work quickly grew into full-scale outdoor construction, driven by demand for higher-quality results and reliable trades. Over time, we’ve expanded into retaining walls, paving, concrete preparation, turf installation, irrigation systems, drainage and complete landscape transformations across Mandurah and surrounding areas.

Through that growth, one thing has stayed the same, our focus on doing things the right way from the ground up.

Working in Western Australia comes with its own challenges, sandy soils, harsh sun, drainage issues and material limitations. We’ve developed our systems around these conditions, using proven methods for soil improvement, base preparation and structural work to ensure every project is built to last.

We’ve seen firsthand what happens when corners are cut, failing retaining walls, sinking paving, poor drainage and short-lived turf. That’s why our approach is different. We prioritise the parts most people don’t see, because that’s what determines whether a job lasts 12 months or 10+ years.

Old Mates Landscaping and Maintenance is not about rushing jobs or chasing volume. It’s about delivering solid, long-term outcomes backed by experience, clear communication, and accountability.

We had our front yard completely transformed by Nathan and his team and it FAR exceeded our expectations. We gave him the basics of what we wanted done (widened aggregate driveway instead of our existing pavers, astro turf instead of our dead lawn, a small raised garden bed and possible hedging plants). We said we were open to recommendations as well and I can’t even begin to explain how professional and knowledgeable he was with everything. He went above and beyond for us and did so much that we didn’t even think of.

They actually managed to fit us in earlier than we expected and had it done for us before Christmas!

The entire process was so seamless and stress free for us as Nathan organised everything and has extremely high standards. The boys worked tirelessly in the sun all day and somehow were still so friendly and jovial when we spoke to them throughout the days.
